I am soooo sick of eHostPros - the web hosts I was using to host a bunch of my domains because they were callous enough to suspend my hosting account for the SECOND time before even sending me an invoice for the payment. Did I say I’m sick of them?

Well, I’ve decided to move my sites to a new host, who gives me great support, so a bunch of my domains (including Blog Maniac) will be unavailable for the next 24 hours. Please bear with me till I complete the move.

  1. EhostPros (www.ehostpros.com) is one of the worst hosting companies I have ever come across. Their lack of support, ability to configure their servers, and the fact I cancelled my account two months ago and have not received a refund, has led me to this conclusion.

I hadn’t purchased a hosting account since 1999, and due to the new technologies that have emerged I was a bit clueless on what hosting company and services I should seek. I found EhostPros using a search engine, and the page seemed great for someone who was in my position. I ordered an account and it was setup in around 48 hours and went from there.

At first I was tweaking my coding skills and didn’t use any advanced functions like mySQL, PHP or CGI, but when it came time to implement such features and use them, I was at a loss due to restrictions placed on the accounts. I soon found out that most of the configuration settings, except a few you can use via the CPANEL must be set by a service professional. So I contacted them using their online chat service to request the features be implemented.

The person who answered the chat referred me to their support@ehostpros.com email address. I received an automatic response and then had to wait a few days for them to respond, telling me they need to contact their administrator to setup such things. I waited and they were eventually setup.

When these features were setup they used really old versions of the programs so my newer scripts wouldn’t work. I had purchased vbulletin and then contacted them using the online support. Again I was referred to the email address, and then again told that I had to wait for the administrator to fix the problems.

Once I had vbulletin up and running I would experience server side problems almost twice a month, resulting in down time due to someone on their side messing up the configuration. During this time I never received a solution using their online chat, was always forwarded to the email account, and half of the time had to wait days for their administrator to fix these issues.

During the entire duration of my web page being online they had to reset the entire account four times, and each time leaving me to reset file permissions, and reconfigure a countless number of other configuration settings that were wiped out. This only added to the downtime of my network of web pages.

Needless to say I got tired of the lack of professional support and sought out another host. When I found one, I cancelled my account with Ehostpros and was told I would receive a refund for my unused months within 24-48 hours. After this time passed I questioned them about it and was told that their page stated it would take up to a maximum of 14 days.

After 14 days passed I asked where my payment was and they said it takes 14 business days. This is not what their refund page said, but to my surprise a few hours later it was changed. At this point in time I found this a bit odd, but decided to wait the four more days for the refund.

Once this time frame had passed I asked again where my money was. I was given the run around and have been getting the same old excuses for over two months now. It is now nearing Christmas time, and due to my disability status I cannot work and was planning to use the refunded money to buy what little I could for my family.

I have now sought out the help of free legal counsel, and I am hoping the bank’s who’s debit card I used can get the money back for me sometime before Christmas.

If you’re shopping around for a hosting company I would stay away from Ehostpros, as unlike their name they are one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever dealt with, and their lack of refunding my account clearly shows they do not give a damn.

For reference, their administrators email is anand@rsanetworks.net. They do not give any contact information other then a P.O. BOX address and a fax number.

  2. Hey Priya, I somehow stumbled across your blog (can’t remember how exactly, hooray for random Google searches :) and I’ve found it to be very well written. And unlike practically every other marketing blog I’ve stumbled across, full of interesting and useful info. Thanks! I’ll certainly be checking in.

Oh, and thanks for the warning about ehostpros. Some days it seems like there are more rotten hosting companies than spam blogs.

  6. Wow! Thanks to all of you who posted of your experiences with ehostpros. Especially Brakken for taking the time to write up such a good piece with concrete reasons for feeling the way you do. I was about to pull the trigger on the dealio with them but decided to look around for feedback. I make my living online and can’t afford downtime or problems. Thanks again for warning of their issues.

  7. They suspended my entire account which hosted several domains because of a “claimed” phishing scam operating on one of the domains. This was A COMPLETE LIE, the most that site did was subscribe to an RSS feed which was cached with a one hour expiration. They feebly re-enabled my account after I wasted hours of my weekend arguing with them, asking over and over again for the proof to their claim which they could not provide. The support people were complete morons. Now, weeks later, the web root of the particular domain that was flagged for the phishing scam is set to 000 permission out of nowhere and the site is inaccessible and I am unable to reset the folder permissions. They aren’t telling me what happened, but apparently they just decided to F-CK me over. !?!?! DO NOT EVER USE EHOSTPROS!!!!

Luke Forehand: how do I open a ticket?
    Luke Forehand: just email them?

Luke Forehand: I have not touched it myself
Luke Forehand: aren’t you support ?
Luke Forehand: if so, why do I have to open a ticket to fix it?
    Tom: Sorry for the inconvenience.
Luke Forehand: people are waiting for this site to come back up and this is the second time you guys have done something like this to me
Tom: We also do not touch any data of the customer with out their permission.
Luke Forehand: them somebody hacked into your system because only root can do what happened to this folder
    Tom: I am sorry Luke
