One marketing manual I own and recommend without hesitation is Jeff Alderson’s Marketing Equalizer.

Jeff is the successful marketer of products like Adword Equalizer, Competition Equalizer, SEO Spider and Article Equalizer (which I’m especially impressed by).

He’s now written a book on marketing that focuses on solving the single biggest threat you face as a website owner or affiliate marketer… your competition.

Marketing Equalizer is like getting a lesson in Marketing 101. But its more than just another marketing manual.

Jeff shows you how to boost your traffic and sales by setting yourself apart from the rest. Using examples of successful offline marketing strategies, he demonstrates how to research and survey your market, define yourself and find your USP.

He provides you with the tools and techniques you need to “spy” on your competition and reveals business transforming marketing strategies using pay-per-click advertising. He also shows you how you can get more done by actually doing less.

This 92-page PDF shows you the ins and outs of wiping out the competition. In the cut-throat world of affiliate and pay-per-click marketing, these techniques could mean the difference between barely scraping by and making extravagant profits.

If you need more traffic and are tired of losing sales to your competition, then Marketing Equalizer is the solution you’ve been looking for.

I’ve been a long-time advicate of using good, relevant content to attract traffic to your sites. Even wrote an SEO guide that explains how to leverage your content to get top rankings.

But Kevin Bidwell’s Traffic Writing Private site goes a step further. I’ve been a member of Traffic Writing for the last couple of months and had access to some powerful reports that show exactly how you can generate massive traffic and profits from any website you choose.

I’m delighted with the traffic generating tips and wealth of information that Kevin shares in the reports, some of which I’ve listed here.

Traffic Explosion 2005
Creating a Content Driven Traffic System
A Review of Online Article Banks

These reports will teach you strategies you can put to work immediately like…

How to use a little-known insider tactic to get #1 on Google for a great niche market term¦and do it in as little as 24 hours.

Exactly where to grab no-cost or low-cost search-engine magnet content for your website even if you can’t write a sentence

How to use a cheap tool to generate visitors to any website you chooseand turn those visitors into buyers

How to generate thousands of dollars in recurring affiliate commissions (HINT: It’s a Set it and Forget It Strategy that pays every month)

Plus how you can get unlimited access to our resident experts forum (that includes me ;-) ) where you can ask and get instant answers to your toughest traffic and marketing questions.

You’ll get access to this and more when you sign up for a no-cost trial membership at Traffic Writing.

A few months ago I was in the process of moving content from my largest internet marketing site to a number of niche sites, so I could provide more targeted content and boost their rankings.

This month I found that for some reason, my marketing site had been removed from the Google index. I know that in these cases there is little I could do to get it reindexed, so instead of wasting time worrying about the loss of traffic, I just speeded up the process I began earlier.

The first site, Article Writing Tips , is up and running and already getting traffic. The site is already indexed by Yahoo and shows up in its index for very competitive terms.

Here’s the new link for my big list of article directories and submission sites. Shorter, better and easier to remember.

Enjoy the resources on Article Writing Tips.

An article in Clickz discusses a new online reputation analysis tool from Factiva that promises to monitor brand chatter across blogs, mainstream news sources and consumer generated media. Factiva is a joint venture of Dow Jones and Reuters.

In a previous post on monitoring online reputation, I wrote about IBM’s reputation tracking tool, WebFountain. Being able to monitor reputation online through consumer-generated media like blogs and other news sources is a development that most PR and marketing managers would welcome.

According to the article:

Factiva’s Insight Reputation Intelligence offering monitors coverage of a company or brand through the maelstrom of modern media. The tool will pour through material published in The Wall Street Journal, WSJ Online, the Dow Jones and Reuters newswires, over four million blogs and active message boards, and 11,000 other Web sites.

Customers will receive graphical reports intended to help manage and craft brand management and reputation strategies. These purport to show how various media sources portray a company, its brands and its competitors.

Discovering and proactively responding to these threats or opportunities are what will be the marketing executive’s competitive differentiator.

Peter Griffin who started the Tsunami Help blog sent me a message announcing the launch of a new blog that takes citizen journalism to the streets of Mumbai. I reproduce his message in part below.

Almost a thousand people dead in Maharashtra, about half of them from Bombay. Transport screwed, no electricity, no running water, some areas STILL under after a week later.

They haven’t even begun figuring out how many people were injured. Or what the tolls might increase to if the epidemics we all fear do happen. (And that’s likely, if you have sewage mixed with rain water standing thirteen feet deep in some places)

They have’t even begun estimating what the losses of property are going to be like. So many have lost everything. We can analyse what wrong later. We can figure out what to do about it later. Right now, Bombay needs help.

Bombay’s bloggers (and some friends - the net doesn’t worry about borders) are trying to do their bit, by making sure information is easy to find. Information was one more thing we all didn’t have enough of last week. Not that it’s much better now.

The Mumbai Help blog is an effort to put online such critical “for emergencies” information as we can find. We hope to turn this into a permanent site that will act as a Bombay disaster portal.

The Cloudburst Mumbai blog is a collection of news, both from the media as well as stories sent in via email and blog links.

Aamir Khan's blog But you know that blogging has reached the mainstream in India when our film stars start doing it.

I’m referring to Aamir Khan, whose movie Lagaan was nominated for the Oscars. Aamir has started a blog to create buzz for his latest release Mangal Pandey: The Rising.

If you’re an Aamir Khan fan like me, check out his blog, ostensibly written by the actor himself at Mangal Pandey Spaces , where you can post a comment, see movie and production stills and listen to music from the movie.

A small suggestion, Aamir. Lose the photo with the ferocious face and let your female fans see that cutesy-pie image we love so much. ;-)

RSS stands for Rich Site Syndication. RSS is a powerful tool, and the publishing choice of the future, according to Mike Mograbi, author of 378 Internet Marketing Predictions.

How to Subscribe to RSS Newsfeeds

Do you really need RSS feeds?

The answer is - yes!

RSS can benefit anyone today. It’s definitely the publishing choice of the future.

Since I started submitting my blogs and RSS feeds to blog directories and RSS search engines in August 2004, not only have my listings in the search engines increased, but the traffic to my websites have shot up.

Syndicating my content with RSS/XML feeds has led to a consistent increase in traffic. Be warned, however that RSS can use up a lot of bandwidth, so make sure your hosting package allows for this.

RSS and XML feeds are currently used for the following -

1. RSS for Fresh Website Content

RSS is a technology that allows you to obtain fresh, updated content for your website by pulling it from Newsfeeds and blogs created by experts.

Tools to Add RSS Feeds to your site

ExpressRSS™ is a tool created by my buddy, Satyajeet Hattangadi, that allows you to add RSS Feeds to your site in under a minute without knowing any programming. Amazingly simple to use and much less expensive than some of the other tools out there. All you do is select your feed, press a button and Voila! your copy-paste code is ready. Also subscribe to the free RSS Riches email course.

Traffic Turbocharger generates entire search engine optimized, niche websites with RSS feeds that provide targeted, keyword rich, fresh content.

RSS Syndicator is a free tool to put auto-updating search engine readable headlines and content on your website.

Blogging Tools and Resources

A blog is an online journal or diary to which you can add short posts and syndicate your content with a newsfeed.

Blog Maniac - All about blogging, blogging tools, books, tutorials and more.

2. RSS for Content Syndication and Publishing

RSS is also used by publishers who want to reach readers without having them subscribe to an opt-in email list. Its helps publishers deliver Direct-to-desktop content and is a "Pull" technology (unlike email, which is a "push" technology).

RSS can benefit anyone today. I submit all my RSS feeds and blogs to RSS directories and search engines and am definitely seeing a surge in traffic from them.

Making An RSS Feed is an excellent tutorial by Danny Sullivan of SearchEngine Watch on how to create your own feed.

Syndicate Your Page is a tutorial that will show you how to blogify your page, or provide its content as an RSS feed.

Here are the RSS feeds that I created to syndicate my own articles
